Repository Participants

Repository Participants (RPs) are appointed by CCRL and provide services to their customers as per Repository guidelines. Any entity (other than individuals and proprietary firms) registered with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Reserve Bank of India (RBI) or Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA) are eligible to apply for RP. While applying, they can opt for RP with all rights or limited rights. RP with all rights is expected to diligently do client KYC of customers, verify their documents and provide account maintenance and transaction services. Customers looking for opening of Repository account are requested to refer the list of RPs empaneled by CCRL. Banks and NBFCs may apply to become RP to operate their Pledgee accounts with Repository. Client

An individual or an entity desiring to transact in eNWR can open an account with a Repository Participant (RP) empaneled with CCRL. They can approach any one or more RP as per their convenience. RPs will facilitate with account opening form and guidance on supporting documents needed to open the account. On successful verification of documents by RP, the client will be provided with a client account number which can be used by the client at all the registered warehouses and Banks. Clients are requested to ascertain the tariff with their RPs before commencing transactions.

Registered warehouses

Any person/ entity desirous of commencing or carrying on the business of maintaining a warehouse issuing negotiable warehouse receipts may submit an application to the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA) for registration in respect of one or more warehouses owned or occupied by him/ it. Every application for registration shall be in such form and manner and shall be accompanied by such fees as may be prescribed by WDRA. For registration, warehouse should apply on WDRA portal at https://www.wdra.gov.in. The application has to be supported by necessary documents as provided in the guidance document (https://wdra.gov.in/web/wdra/procedure-for-registration). Post registration, warehouse can issue electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipt (eNWR) on CCRL application. A warehouse registered with WDRA will have requisite infrastructure, manpower, skills, knowledge, experience and expertise to perform the services/ functions of a warehouse.
